Produce Services:  Wholesale Acai Distributors

LOS ANGELES, California – February 6, 2013 –  Produce Services of Los Angeles, Inc. is proud to announce we are now a wholesale Acai distributor and supplier to juice bars, smoothie shops, and cafes throughout Southern California.  These products range from the 60/100 gram foodservice boxes to sorbet and other items.

What is Acai?

The Acai berry is small round fruit found on a species of palm tree in the Amazon.  The color and shape resemble a small red grape or blueberry with one major difference.  Most of the berry is actually a seed and therefore only a small amount of each berry has nutritional value.  The pulp of the berries have been harvested for generations by the people of the Amazon and are now exported worldwide.

Foodservice Use:

As the natural and healthy food movement has expanded, so has the product offerings in the segment.  20 years ago, nobody in Southern California knew what Acai was, let alone have access to it.  Now, Acai cafes are sprouting up all over the area offering patrons a healthy and exotic way to eat healthy.  Typically, the product is blended with an array of items and topped with your favorite topping including coconut shaving, honey, bee pollen.
